Chorus / Dock 6 Collective / Chicago, IL / 2026
Chorus is an installation composed of double-sided mixed-media drawings and collages installed within a large industrial spray booth at Dock 6. It began as a series of self-portraits inspired by mythological bird-women, including the Siren, Harpy, and Alkonost. While the Sirens and Harpies of Greek mythology embody danger, seduction, and destruction, the Alkonost of Slavic folklore is a benevolent figure whose songs brings comfort, joy, and forgetfulness of worldly sorrows.
The work evolved into an installation in which these figures function as a chorus. In ancient Greek theatre, the chorus served as a collective voice, commenting on the action, guiding the audience's emotional response, and reinforcing the play's themes. By bringing together these contrasting mythologies, I create an uncanny environment where opposing narratives coexist, reflecting the complexities, contradictions, and desires of contemporary life.
