Hello and Goodbye Ritual
Hello and Goodbye Ritual / performance stills / 2020
The pattern of this labyrinth is a replica of the labyrinth from Chartres Cathedral in France - an ancient place of meditation. Its path takes a walker through four quadrants representing the four arms of a cross. A central rosette pattern symbolizes enlightenment. The paper textile I am performing with at this site is also created using a cross pattern symbolizing sun, hope, and regeneration.
Labyrinths can be walked in many ways and rituals are often performed to enliven the labyrinth experience and to celebrate life. It creates a container in which we can learn more about ourselves and our relationships with others. It is important to walk the labyrinth while mindful of your life in order to deepen our psychological and spiritual center.
